Tinubu to Unveil ₦54 Trillion 2026 Budget Today
President Bola Tinubu is set to present the ₦54 trillion 2026 Appropriation Bill to a joint session of the National Assembly today at 2:00 p.m.
The budget, which has been touted as a crucial step towards revitalizing Nigeria’s economy, is expected to focus on key sectors such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and security.
According to sources, the budget proposal includes a retained revenue projection of ₦34.33 trillion.
The budget presentation comes amid concerns over Nigeria’s economic challenges, including rising inflation, unemployment, and a widening fiscal deficit.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has urged Nigeria to implement structural reforms to boost economic growth and reduce dependence on oil exports.
As Nigerians await the budget presentation, there are hopes that the government will address pressing issues such as poverty, inequality, and inadequate infrastructure.
Financial Analyst, Kabiru Abdullah, emphasizes prioritizing investment in human capital development and manufacturing.
“The 2026 budget should prioritize investments in human capital, agriculture, MSMEs, and manufacturing to stimulate economic growth and job creation,” he said.
As Nigerians wait for the budget presentation with high expectations, security is one key area of focus which should not be overlooked, as no development can thrive in an atmosphere of insecurity.
